Literacy is integrated across the KLAs using a whole school language approach. Teaching strategies encompass modelled, guided and independent meaningful learning experiences. Students are engaged in essential literacy skills including Spelling Mastery, shared reading, guided reading, novel study, grammar and punctuation, comprehension, literary and factual text types and handwriting. A ‘Classroom Library’ has been developed with a broad range of literature to encourage students to read for pleasure.
